Valarie Kaur 'Revolutionary Love' Tour

September 28, 2024

Valarie Kaur is a renowned civil rights leader, lawyer, award-winning filmmaker, educator, innovator, and founder of the Revolutionary Love Project. A daughter of Punjabi Sikh farmers from California, Valarie has degrees from Stanford University, Harvard Divinity School and Yale Law School. Her movement's purpose is to reclaim love as a force for justice. Her question: “The future is dark: Is this the darkness of the tomb, or the darkness of the womb?” is a mantra for people fighting for change. Tour features lessons from Valarie’s acclaimed book See No Stranger (2020), and showcases two new books Sage Warrior (2024) and children’s book World of Wonder (2024).

Original music is performed by Sonny Singh from his new album Sage Warrior (2024) and traditional sacred poetry from the Sikh tradition by Jasvir Kaur Rababan, along with Dr. Nirinjan Kaur Khalsa - professor from Loyola Marymount in Los Angeles.  The musical instruments are historical, played in the 1500s by the people accompanying the first Sikh Guru, Guru Nanak Dev Ji.

Thank you World Religions teacher David Tastor of Granite Bay High School for inviting the tour to visit and for promoting the event in the community.
